What kind of events can I plan or attend to promote Christian Fellowship amongst men?
Q. I have recently been thrusted into the position of Event Coordinator for our Men's Ministry at church. Although I am terribly excited about this I am also very nervous. Does anyone have any ideas for me on either planning events or attending them? I am expected to plan one event every two months. I was born and raised in Miami, FL. but am now living in Morgantown, WV so please keep the landscape in mind.

A. How about attending a "Promise Keepers" conference? It may be out of town or in town, but it may give a opportunity for the men in the group to know each other better, while see the larger number Christian men that are out there.

Why do I get severe headaches and vomit when I attend special events like my college graduation & wedding day?
Q. I have a history of migraines and have used stuff like Imitrex, but these headaches don't feel like migraines. I think they are tied to anxiety or stress, and they knock me out...which ruins special occasions. All comments welcome...I want to be proactive so this doesn't happen again.

A. Sounds like a really situation specific form of Anxiety Disorder. I also have a problem of stress and anxiety during any time when I'm being recognized or getting an award (weird, right?) Anyway - I hate taking pills, and I'm really into breathing and aroma therapy, etc. But about 6 times per year, something comes up when I have to cave and take a Xanax. Sounds trite - but talk to your Dr. and consider a very limited prescription. Good luck!

Atheists: Do you attend any overtly Xpian events over the Xmas season?
Q. Sometimes I'll go to a Carol service, and the local Morman church puts on a really nice live nativity play every year that I go to sometimes. Anyone else think of anything Xpian that they would attend this time of year?
Asked by magpieix A.L.M.N. - Fri Dec 19 11:59:24 2008 - - 10 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Sure. I often go to my family's Christmas Eve church service. I grew up there; it's pleasant and familiar. I don't have to be a devout Christian to enjoy what tends to be a charming ritual. The stories, the songs, the atmosphere, and the general sense of goodwill regarding the tradition Christian sense of the holiday is, for me, often a part of the season. No matter that I derrive something slightly different from the service than others present do.

Are there any organised events for Saints fans to attend to watch them win the Grand Final?
Q. I live in Seaford, Melbourne, five minutes' drive from Frankston, the new home of the Saints from 2010. I'm new to the area and don't know anyone. Would love to spend GF day with other maniacal Saints fans having a drink or three (will catch a cab home) and cheering them on. Carna mighty Saints!! Please let me know if you are aware of somewhere to go to share the Big Day with like-minded nuts. Thank you very much.

A. I think you mean to be in the AFL section - if not then I think all the big GF do's for the Dragons have probably been cancelled. They're likely holding their 'wakes' today.

How bad does it look if you don't attend any of your company's social events?
Q. I'm not a social person and I only just started working for a new company. I'm married but I just don't feel I should be expected at all the company after work social events. They go to the bar for people's birthdays and this weekend they just had a cookout. Most of these people have worked together for years.

anybody who feels they are missing out on life because they can, t attend the concerts or sports events ?
Q. anyone feel they are missing out on life, because they can,t attend the sports events or concerts or events they want to see, for whatever reasons, whether it be lack of money or having to work, or just can,t get there, how is this affecting your life, do you get grouchy with relatives or friends, do you want to take off of work or school, at risk to your job or studies, do you think these things are having more control in your life, then they ought to have, they should not be controling your life at all, how do you resolve this
Asked by mark v - Sat Aug 16 22:56:59 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I wouldn't say I'm "missing out on life" but I'm still kind of bummed out since I didn't get to go see Ozzy Osbourne when he was here in North Dakota. It's a shame because since he's getting up there in age, he'll probably retire in a few years and will more than likely NEVER tour in ND again. :(

What sports events do you like to attend? Or do you not attend any?
Q. I was just checking out ticket prices to a Red Sox game. Freaking 140 bucks and the seats still stink. No wonder I don't bother with arena events anymore. First of all its about a 2 hour drive into Boston, then you have to pay like 50 bucks to park, oh sure you can take the train but thats not very safe lately. Then there is like doubleA or triple A ball and even thats going to run you 50 bucks if you get a hot dog and a beer. Wondering what you like to attend and if you think its all overpriced. I never think to go to a Fishercats game and thats actually closer. That sounds like fun, I mean, they don't call Manchester "The Queen City" for nothing you know. A. and to top it off, the red sox blow! go to a AA game, the ball parks are generally new and awesome, and it wont cost you an arm, leg and left nut to attend Me and my friends go to the new hampsire fishercats in manchester,nh. Tickets were $7 and we were 4 rows up. AA has great ball players, and most of them skip AAA to go to the pros. And there are more AA than AAA teams out there, so there may be a team close to where you live.

Help - boyfriend refuses to attend social events with me?
Q. Hi, last wk, it was my grandma's bday. My bf of 3 yrs (26 and I'm 25) was invited and he chose not to attend. He met my mom (once), not my close relatives. Yest, I was bridesmaid for my friend's wedding and was planned months in advance he would come. But at very last min., he told me couldn't come. His reasons are he is uncomfortable, and they are strangers to him, so what's the point of attending. The only function he attends is my bday (no-one else around). Strange part is that during our first yr, he attended almost all the functions I invited him to. He has social anxiety b/c for a potluck one time, he took social anxiety pills. Now, he backs out of everything. My friends/fam never said anything bad of him b/c it's impossible since he… [cont.]

Would i be able to attend training events?
Q. I will be passing into the IRR after the next 3 months. I'm not really sure if i want to join the Marine reserves because i don't want to be activated yet I still want to do Marine Corps things such as attend Sgt's course and MCMAP courses. I've witnessed IRR marines activate themselves so they can go to 2-3 month long military exercises. Wouldn't i be alble to do the same?
Asked by Apex01 - Fri Aug 1 03:53:25 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Yes, you can activate yourself during your IRR time. My husband got a few phone calls from his reserve command while he was on IRR looking for him to do a few of those things. Just talk to the people at your reserve command and see what they can hook you up with. My understanding, too, is that if you're activating yourself during that time, you can get reserve drill credit, which can still count toward promotion. That's something you should definitely ask about when you do seps/taps.

And here's a list of different events...it is set up kinda strange like you have to have presale tickets, but I bet if you see something interesting you can contact the hotel/club directly and find out how to get in. I hope you find something fun to do!

Is it legal for a supervisors to expect subordinates to attend social events?
Q. I work for a government organization and I do my job well. I am also very social with friends and people I like. However, although I do like most of my colleagues, I would just rather not attend social events with them; especially if they are on weekends. My supervisor makes it clear that he notices when I don't show up to these social events. I then ask him "I'm sorry, is attendance mandatory at these events?" He then replies "it is implied" or "expected that you attend." #1 can any company for organization make their employees attend social events? #2 Isn't it legally harassment when a supervisor says he "expects" you to attend social events? #3 What are my chances in winning in a harassment complaint against this supervisor?
