What steps can I take to join Delta Sigma Theta Inc.?
Q. I am interested in becoming a member of Delta Sigma Theta Inc. I am interested in joining the alumnae chapter in my hometown. However, I am currently outside of the U.S. and I wanted to know what could I do while working outside of the U.S. to help further this endeavor? I plan to move back home in about a year and a half. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

A. Hi there! I agree with everything my soror dablest1 has said already. I just want to add that we are an international organization and that we may have a chapter in the country that you are currently living in. There are chapters in Japan, The UK ,Germany, The Bahamas, Jamaica and many other countries that are active . If there is a chapter where you are ( most of them have websites) try finding out when they are having events so you can get to know the women. If you happen to be in a country where there is no chapter you can try contacting the ladies in the chapter in your hometown to express your interest so that they can know you when you return home to the US. Also if possible you can do community service where you are. This will… [cont.]

How would it be viewed if someone applies to multiple Delta Sigma Theta Alumnae chapters?
Q. In my county there are 2 Alumnae chapters of Delta Sigma Theta. According to one chapter president I would qualify for them both because of my residency. Would it be viewed negatively if I were to attend RUSH for or apply to both chapters?
Asked by AshantiCole - Wed Dec 31 11:26:37 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Usually, chapters don't overlap with Membership Intake. If one chapter has one in the fall, the other won't have one til the spring or the next year. My advice to you is go with the best fit for you. You can attend the Rush for both if you like but there you can get a feel for the members of each chapter. I wouldn't recommend applying to both. Not that it would be viewed negatively but some members may see it is merely wanting to be a part of DST by any means.

How can I become something associated with Delta Sigma Theta?
Q. I'm 15 and in 10th grade and I really want to be a Delta Sigma Theta, so what is a step I can take to become something associated with the sorority !?
Asked by Angel Baby - Fri Jan 26 22:06:21 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Go to college first. If you want to get a better view of the organization i general and what it's aims are, you can see if they have any team mentoring programs or a debutante cotillion in your area, but **none of those things are a precursor to or an entry point into membership.** (that cannot be stressed enough!!) Focus on getting out of high school, making good grades, and getting into college, then worry about sorority stuff once you're there. For all you know, the college of your choice may not even have a chapter.

Joining a grad chapter of Delta Sigma Theta?
Q. I have two undergrad degrees. I am interested in joining a grad chapter of Delta Sigma Theta. My first undergrad degree my gpa is a little shy of 2.5 however my second undergrad degree my gpa is well over 2.5. I am currently pursuing my masters degree but would like to try to join before I complete the masters degree. Which degree would be used in determining my eligibility?
Asked by The Mrs. - Mon Nov 17 00:52:34 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. If your second degree is at the same school then they will use your gpa combined (So if you have a 2.3 and a 2.8 then they will more than likely average that out to see what your average and cumulative gpa is overall) Also just to give you heads up as of Jan 1st the GPA has changed for becoming a member of DST. The new requirement will be a 2.75 so you also want to keep that in mind. Good luck to you, and please let me know if you have any other questions!

Can any type of woman join Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated or do you have to be a certain type?
Q. I want to join Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated but i;m not what you would consider your average Delta or at least I don't fit the bill for my campuses average Delta. I'm a little afraid to go for it and I want to know do they choose girls who are like them or are they welcoming to others who aspire to join this illustrious group.

A. The ones I know are scholars dedicated to service. Their attire seems to say the same. Average - I don't get that one. Fearless - absolutely! Surely you can answer your own question. Do you fit the bill? You know who you are and what your about. A sorority won't make you what you're not. When you start talking averages, let research guide you. I don't believe anyone can join as you've been advised but I hope you follow your dreams, goals and aspirations.

Do I have to wait before I can attend rush at Delta Sigma Theta Alumnae chapter?
Q. I would like to know if I have to wait before I attend a rush ( if invited) at a Delta Sigma Theta Alumnae chapter if I attend an undergraduate university where there was an active chapter?
Asked by Love M - Tue May 5 18:24:17 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. When are you graduating? More info is needed. Just gonna answer what I think you are trying to ask. If you are saying that you attended or attend an undergraduate university and DST is/was active on that campus and you did not seek membership at that level will you have to wait before you attend an Alumnae chapter RUSH. If that is what you are asking the answer would be: First off you have to be invited to attend a RUSH for an Alumnae Chapter. They are not usually advertised. If you are invited there is no need to wait. There is no need to wait to seek membership into an Alumnae Chapter upon graduation if you meet the criteria. However, you may have to wait until the chapter in your area has a line.

A. If you are chosen for membership into Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. you will learn everything you need to know about *Nine Pearls* This information is only given to people when they are going through MIP. My best advice to you, is to get to know the members of the chapter that you are interested in, Community Service, and if you are in undergrad, make sure you grades are in tact. Good luck on your quest, and please feel free to email me if you have any other questions...

A. The SAR - successive approximation register - is an ADC that uses a binary search technique to make increasingly-accurate guesses at a value. It is basically a DAC with a comparator. The SAR takes many cycles to resolve a value, but is very accurate. Widely used in instrumentation. The delta-sigma ADC uses an integrator, comparator and a 1-bit DAC to create a pulse-code modulated stream, the density of which is proportional to the input. This is a medium-speed, medium-to-high accuracy device, widely used in audio and some instrumentation. The flash converter uses an array of comparators for each voltage level - referred to as "thermometer coding" as the comparator arrangement resembles the marks on a thermometer. It converts an input to… [cont.]

A. First, I'd check out the National Website at www.deltasigmatheta.org, which will provide background, as well as some information on membership requirements. If you are in pursuing an undergraduate degree, then you can also check to see if there is an active chapter at your school. Or, if you have graduates, you can research alumnae chapters in your area. In either case, by all means continue to educate yourself about Delta's history & current programming, and attend programs so that you can get to know the members. Most importantly, take a long hard look at WHY you feel you want to be a part of any sorority and give serious thought to what you expect to get from that *lifetime* committment, as well as what you would contribute to the… [cont.]

A. Hi there, So after attending college, I would suggest that you focus on your grades. This is VERY important, so I would strive to at least get a 3.0 since our gpa requirement just changed to a 2.75. Next I would focus on performing community service. I would suggest that you start this now, as this will show my sorors that you are dedicated in serving your community. It will also give you at least over a year's worth of community service which you will need to get verified when applying for membership. With that being said, I would make sure you stay in connect with the person in charge of your community service so they can write you a letter of recommendation. When you start college, you should get involved with other college events.… [cont.]

How often do Delta Sigma Theta do intake process at a quarterly school?
Q. I will be attending school in December. The school I will be attending goes by quarters not semesters. I also wanted to know how many quarters do you have to attend at a school in order to pledge?

A. To answer your question, you will have to be at "sophomore" status before you are allowed to go through the intake process at your school. It really doesn't matter if your school is on a quarter or semester system as long you are considered at least a sophomore. What types of community service is Delta Sigma Theta Sorority interested in for prospective alumnae members?
Q. I participate in 1-2 community walks for breast cancer and the UNCF in my city every year. I also participated, for the 1st time last year, in Holiday Adopt-A-Child program. Do these types of activities constitute community service?

A. Yes, they definitely count towards community service. We look for a variety of community service projects when trying to choose prospective members for our organization. We also look for people who have a longevity of community service as well, so if you have participated in community walks for breast cancer and UNCF every year, then you should be fine. What we don't want is people that have community service JUST before Rush. That shows up that they are just trying to put in a few hours before MIP. Since we are considered a community service organization and not a social org, then community service is obviously VERY important to us. Good luck to you, and continue serving your community!
